Copy and Monitor

This process standard describes Revit's built-in "Copy/Track" and "Coordination Check" features, which allow changes to Revit objects to be propagated across files and tracked.

On the surface, this involves tracking changes (i.e., monitoring) to key elements such as layers, grids, and objects used identically across different models—such as plumbing fixtures—which must be updated in the linked model whenever changes are made to the base model.

This technique is specifically applied in projects involving multiple disciplinary models that are typically linked to one another, such as the Architecture+Structural Engineering model (= BAU) and the Building Services+Electrical Engineering model (= TGA) used in the BOA environment.
