The course covers the key roles and functions within the BIM workflow and emphasizes the importance of clearly defined roles for successful digital construction processes. It focuses on information and BIM management, as well as specific job profiles, ranging from strategic corporate-level roles to project-related operational tasks.

The goal is to ensure the structured and efficient management of digital information in order to guarantee the quality and consistency of BIM models throughout all project phases.

The learning objectives include understanding the various roles (e.g., information manager, BIM manager, BIM project manager, BIM general and discipline coordinators, model manager, and BIM authors), their specific areas of responsibility, duties, and how they interact with one another.

Course duration: approx. 1 hour 30 minutes

The introduction explains how digitalization—and in particular the use of BIM—is giving rise to new areas of responsibility and roles in construction planning and execution. It explains why traditional working methods must be expanded to include new responsibilities and specialized roles in order to manage the growing complexity of digital construction processes. The focus is on fostering an understanding of how these new roles complement and interlock with one another to ensure the quality and completeness of digital building data in the long term.
